How can I get wrinkles out of a silk blouse?

I have a silk blouse that I want to wear tomorrow night, and it's dry clean only. Can I iron it? Is there something I can do to get the wrinkles out?|||If its not too wrinkled, hang it in the bathroom while you take a shower. The steam from the hot water will make some of the wrinkles fall out.|||If it says not to iron, then don't iron it. I believe steamers are a good bet. You can also take it to the cleaner and ask them to have it done ASAP.

Do you think a kite made from raw silk will be able to fly and stay airborn?

I have some very light-weight raw silk that I would like to use for the body of a kite. Do you see any problems with this type of kite flying, staying airborn or being able to reach significant heights?|||This summer i made a diamond shaped kite out of an old silk dress and it flew pretty good, my craftsmanship was poor and it needed a tail.





But i would def say go for it!|||the chinese made kites of silk way back hundreds of years ago.





you just need very thin silk.|||It's worth trying. I think a silk kite would fly.

How do you set the dye in a silk shirt?

I have a collection of old, thin, pure silk shirts that I would like to cut up and use to make a quilt. How do I set the dye in them so it won't bleed over into the other pieces? I don't know what kind of dye the manufacturers used.|||Many people have success with a vinegar bath to set silk dyes. When raw silk is dyed it is dyed in an acid based dye-bath. The acid help the silk react with the fibres so the colour sets. One of the easiest to find acids is acetic acid, also known as vinegar. Your silk might not be losing dye, it might be excess dye that's sitting on top of the fibres and is merely rinsing out. Try the vinegar trick, regardless, it will help the silk hold onto its color.

I haven't dyed silk yet, so I'm not entirely sure on technique, but there are books out there with directions. Prochemical and Dye is a good place to order your dyes from.

How do you align screens in 2 color silk printing?

I have started my interest in silk screening and I would like to know how to align two screens once the first color is on the fabric?


How do you know the screens are aligned? I understand that for each color you need to create a different screen.


But once you print the 1st color, I wonder how do you know you are putting the second color on the right spot?|||you need to put registration marks on your screens. if you line them up then the screens are aligned. you should find some info on the net an how to do them

What is the difference between original satin and silk satin for wedding gown?

I have a seamstress making my wedding gown...and she said its $200 for silk satin...the dress is satin tulle and lace...and has intricate floral design on it. Its a white dress....i was wondering is there a big difference? If so maybe i need to go to a fabric shop to check it out?

Is it possible to launder a cotton silk blend fabric in a washing machine?

I found a great deal on a cotton and silk blend fabric, but didn't ask how to launder it when I bought it. Now I have seven yards of really nice fabric, but want to wash it before I cut it. Now, how do I do that?|||I would...cold water, mild detergent (possibly Woolite), gentle cycle and low heat dryer.|||What are you making out of it??? I don't always wash fabric before I cut... I could be wrong but I like to work with crisp fabric. However if it is cotton and silk that means that it is a woven blend. I would wash it on a delicate cycle in cool water with a mild liquid detergent... I would not dry with heat but would air dry.. |||no it will damage the fabric try dry cleaning or perhaps washing by hand with a mild detergent
