How can I get my design on paper onto the silk screen to put on a shirt?

I recently bought every needed to begin silk screening online, and it will be here in a few days. I was just wondering how I can get the designs I have onto the film that I is used on the screen to make the image. Do I need a special printer or something?

Thanks in advance!!|||There are three methods that I know of. One is with cutting away parts of the coating on the film with a craft knife. You would lay the film over the design and cut away where you want the color. If using multiple colors you would need to cut separate pieces of film for each color and use a registration mark to make sure of proper placement.

Another method is to paint on a design on the silk screen material, then coat where you do not want paint to come through with another solution. You should be able to place your design under the silk screen material and copy it.

Another method is burning the film using light. There is a fairly new YuDu machine by ProvoCraft which uses light to create the silk screen. You would follow the machine directions about placing your design and the silk screen material together and exposing it with light.

I suggest you ask these questions also in the Image Reproduction boards at Craftster.org though for more info quickly. You'll have to join to actually ask questions, but it's free.
