Where to buy fabric to make a silk necktie?

I want to make some silk neckties for Christmas.

What type of silk is best for making a necktie? I see lots of different types when searching for silk fabrics.

And do you have a store you would recommend to buy this fabric.

(I've checked JoAnn and I do not see what I need. I'm willing to pay extra for good quality fabric.)

Thanks!|||It's typically a silk repp that's used. I know of a couple of places in Portland, OR that have some -- but not a wide variety nor a steady supply. Call or email both Mill End Fabrics and Fabric Depot.
