I tried to remove two spots on a white (actually very light ivory) silk dalmatic. I just grabbed the first thing I saw which was a green microfiber cloth. I used isopropyl alcohol, which by itself can be a decent cleaning agent. It transferred dye to the silk garment. I immediately took water and hand soap to it with minimal if any effect. I'm freaking out.|||Stop. Consult a textile conservationist. Don't do any more until you know what you're really dealing with.
DO NOT USE CHLORINE BLEACH! The silk will dissolve.
