Is there a way to whiten silk clothing that has turned yellow?

I've been told that bleach actually both discolors and damages it. I've also heard that anything with enzymes is also bad since silk is an animal product.... what to do?|||You Can try a mild non-chlorine type of cleaner - like Clorox for Colours - or else just soak the clothes overnight in a solution of mild soap cold water and a teaspoon or hydrogen peroxide.

Silk is a very delicate fabric - in the good old days there was no such think as washable silk - you could only dry clean it - and that did not often work either as the chemicals made it off-colour too.

Try one of the above and see what happens. Good luck|||I was told to try this. iron out, milk, and a bit of detergent. After trying it on a white silk scarf, it came out GREEN. So I simply used oxy clean, and it became white and clean.

If it is an expensive item, send it to the dry cleaners.|||You can try "bluing" or Rit Dye White Wash- both should be found at your local grocer.

Hope that helps

Adieu!
