What is the best way to wash banarsi silk?

I have a shalwar kameez made from banarsi silk that was a gift to me from a good personal friend, but I need to know the best way to care for it. I don't want to send it to the dry cleaners as I'm scared they might mess up the fabric. Any suggestions as to caring for it at home?
